Each month our friends at Cybersmile pick a deserving individual for the Cybersmiler of the Month award. Cavanaugh Bell is the worthy winner for July.

Seven-year-old Cavanaugh Bell is the founder of Cool & Dope, which he started with his parents after being bullied at school. To raise awareness of bullying and get the laws surrounding it changed.

During Covid-19 Cavanaugh has helped many people within his community. He used all his own savings of $600 to create and deliver care packages to residents who could not leave their homes to get supplies.

He also used the internet to organise for a whole trailer of emergency covid-19 supplies to be delivered to Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. Highlighting just how the internet can be used to spread positivity and kindness.

A couple of years ago while on a trip to Mount Rushmore with his family they passed the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, which is home to the Oglala Sioux Tribe. He asked his Mum about them and she explained about the lack of resources and poverty on the reservation. He told her he wanted to help them, two years later he was finally able to.

When he got home he immediately set about raising awareness and support online to help them.  Recently all his hard work paid off and he was able to deliver with the help of his parents a 53-foot long trailer packed with provisions including non-perishable food items, cleaning and hygiene supplies and clothes. The family drove the donated supplies from their home town of Maryland to South Dakota, a trip of over 1,400 miles!

But his efforts to help the Oglala Sioux Tribe haven’t stopped there he has also started a crowdfunding campaign for the tribe that has raised $1,928 toward its goal of $6,500.

Here at CelebMix we fully agree with the lovely team at Cybersmile that Cavanaugh really is a worthy recipient of the Cybersmile of the Month award.
