He entered the transfer portal on Dec. 6. Whites move will reunite him with quarterback Harrison Bailey after the two were teammates at Marietta High School in Georgia. Bailey, a former four-star prospect, spent the last two seasons at Tennessee before entering the portal and announcing his commitment to UNLV on Tuesday.

The former Michigan State redshirt freshman wide receiver who was on the roster but not with the team this season announced his commitment to UNLV via Twitter on Friday night.

He entered the transfer portal on Dec. 6.

White’s move will reunite him with quarterback Harrison Bailey after the two were teammates at Marietta High School in Georgia. Bailey, a former four-star prospect, spent the last two seasons at Tennessee before entering the portal and announcing his commitment to UNLV on Tuesday.

A former three-star recruit, White signed with Michigan State’s 2020 recruiting class. In just his second college game, he posted eight catches for 196 yards and a touchdown in a 27-24 win at Michigan on Oct. 31, 2020, which was Mel Tucker’s first victory as head coach of the Spartans. That set a program record for receiving yards in a game by a freshman and is the second-highest total for a Spartan against the Wolverines.

White, 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, missed the final three games of his true freshman season due to injury and finished with 10 receptions for 223 yards and one score.

While UNLV is picking up a former Spartan, Michigan State added a former Rebel transfer in linebacker Jacoby Windmon, who signed in December.

Although White was listed on the roster heading into the season, Tucker in August said he, along with true freshman defensive back Michael Gravely, were not participating in team activities. Neither dressed for a game before entering the portal in December.

Michigan State has had 18 players enter the portal since September, including 15 since the end of the regular season. White is the 10th from that group to publicly name their next school, following linebackers Chase Kline (Eastern Michigan) and Cole DeMarzo (Wyoming), defensive tackles Kyle King (Ball State) and Tyson Watson (Massachusetts), cornerback Kalon Gervin (Kansas), offensive lineman James Ohonba (Louisiana), defensive end Jack Camper (Virginia), tight end Kameron Allen (SMU) and receiver C.J. Hayes (Syracuse).

The Spartans have also added five transfers as linebackers Windmon and Aaron Brule (Mississippi State), defensive end Khris Bogle (Florida) and running back Jalen Berger (Wisconsin) signed in December and cornerback Ameer Speed (Georgia) committed on Tuesday.
