The Saturday Night Live cast member opened up about his mental health struggles and even dealing with suicidal thoughts! That being said, Pete Davidson revealed that he got as close as one can get to ending his own life!
During a new interview for CBS Sunday Morning, the comedian talked about his upcoming movie Staten Island King, which is a semi-autobiographical project.
Furthermore, since the film that is expected to come out on June 12 relates a lot to his own experiences, Pete got candid about more very delicate and personal parts of his life.
Pete decided to talk about everything he’s learned from the years he’s been on SNL but also revealed that during the lowest point in his life, he truly contemplated suicide.
‘I got as close as you can get. I mean, just, like testing the waters. And until I met all the right treatments and the right doctors and did all of the work you need to do to, like, not feel that way, it got really dark and scary,’ he stated.
At this point, he was referring to 2017 when he was in a really dark place emotionally and also when he fortunately chose to seek help instead of acting on his urges.
He got help at the time and also, working on Staten Island King, which he co-wrote, helped him a lot with the healing process as well.
About him portraying the main character, Pete said that ‘I really wanted this to be cleansing for me. I feel as if I got to speak about it in the biggest way possible and I could just get my story out there. So I feel now I could, let it go.’
Pete has hit ‘rock bottom’ several times, he confessed, but he argued that ‘As long as you are around good, supportive people and if you are strong, you can get out of it.’

He also touched upon methods of coping that he’d learned in rehab.
