Steve Mac wins BRITs British Producer of the Year award

The BRITs 2018 is fast approaching and whilst this years nominees will be revealed on January 13, earlier today it was announced that Steve Mac is the recipient of the British Producer of the Year award.

The BRITs 2018 is fast approaching and whilst this year’s nominees will be revealed on January 13, earlier today it was announced that Steve Mac is the recipient of the British Producer of the Year award.

Having produced records with worldwide sales of over 200 million during his lengthy career, it is no surprise that Steve is this year’s winner. During 2017 alone, he co-wrote and produced some of our favourite tracks, including Rita Ora’s ‘Your Song’, Pink’s ‘What About Us’ and Liam Payne’s ‘Strip That Down’ and ‘Bedroom Floor’. He also played a big hand in Ed Sheeran’s global smash ‘Shape of You’, the best-selling UK single of 2017.

Over the years he has also worked with the likes of Demi Lovato, One Direction, The Vamps, Little Mix, Steps, The Wanted, Rixton, Jessie J, John Newman, Clean Bandit, Westlife, and many, many more. Phew!

Speaking about the award, Steve said: “I feel truly humbled to receive this prestigious award, especially as it’s voted for by my peers who I greatly respect. This really is the icing on the cake at the end of such an amazing year, not only for me personally but for British music.”

BRITs Chairman and Chairman & CEO of Sony Music UK & Ireland, Jason Iley added: “I am absolutely delighted for Steve – what a phenomenal year. He has worked with the biggest artists and delivered the biggest songs around the world. Steve is an incredibly talented and versatile producer and the most worthy recipient of the Best British Producer Award after the most exceptional hit rate this past year.”

This year’s BRITs will take place on February 21. Hosted by Jack Whitehall, the ceremony will feature performances from Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Stormzy, and more which will be announced soon. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ITV.

Don’t forget that ITV will also be broadcasting the nominations show live on January 13. In addition to finding out this year’s nominees, there will be performances from Clean Bandit, J Hus, Liam Payne, Paloma Faith and Critics’ Choice 2018 winner Jorja Smith.
